During His life on earth, Jesus passed through many trials and times of suffering as prophesied by Isaiah. Yet everything He suffered was for our sake, especially His death on the cross. It was there that He gave His life to rescue us from the power of sin and death. Shall we then as Christians really expect that we will not pass through times of suffering and difficulty? We can miss a great deal by failing to seek a deeper understanding of what is going on around us, especially when it involves suffering or sorrow…. Suffering, pain, and sorrow are very real in this fallen world. Not turning our backs when we see suffering will lead us into a deeper comprehension of God and of life itself—perspectives that happier circumstances fail to provide.
